Lorie is a multi-textured, multi-colored work of messy art in progress. She is bold and sensitive, reverent and no-nonsense, dedicated and humbly bombastic. She is an aspiring elder, future ancestor and a mother, wife, daughter and friend. Lorie has been trained as a Somatic trauma therapist, scar tissue specialist, somatic bodyworker, somatic sex educator and herbalist while also practicing as a traditional healing medicine woman in respect to her indigenous lineages. As an afro-taina-boricua- lipan apache- chicana- americana woman of complexity, she is dedicated to the continued decolonization of both her healing practice and own bodymind. She is passionate about working with people who are struggling with trauma resulting from grief and loss, sexual assault and violence or discrimination based on sex, gender expression and racism. She is holding special space in her practice specifically for interracial and inter-cultural couples who need support Claiming Each Other across divides rooted in historical, political, systemic or ancestral trauma. She loves to dance, grow and make food and medicine, write, connect with her circle of intimates and spend plenty of quiet contemplative time with spirit and Earth.
